LESSON INTRODUCTION
Today we are examining the meaning of having an intimate relationship with God, by questioning our worship of God, which should be a normal, often healthy process that can lead to deeper conviction and understanding, rather than a lack of belief. It involves moving from inherited beliefs of worship to a personally examined, “grown-up” worship, which can strengthen trust in God amidst challenges.
Lesson Discussion
Brainstorm: How would you describe Intimacy? What does worship of God mean to you?
Lesson Text: Matthew 15:1-20:
- What was the focus of the Pharisees?
- What was the focus of Jesus?
- How does the confrontation between Jesus and the Pharisees challenge your understanding of religious practices?
- What are some modern-day traditions that might conflict with biblical teachings, and how should we address them?
- In what ways can you ensure that your worship is heartfelt and not just a ritual?
- What practical steps can we take to align our hearts with our words in our daily walk with Christ?
Last call
