August 5 – A New Beginning after a Setback

LESSON INTRODUCTION

We all face setbacks in life: a failed relationship, job loss, exam failure, health issues, or personal disappointments. These moments can feel crushing, especially when we’ve invested our time, energy, or heart into something that didn’t go as planned.

Today we are exploring how a setback can be the turning point for something far greater, a New beginning.

Discussion Outline

We are looking at the parable of the Lost son (the Prodigal Son), for the lessons which could help us face setbacks.

Read Luke 15:11-32

Describe some of the key Characteristics of the Father.

When the younger son came to his “senses”, he went through a personal mindset reset with Clarity, Humility and Focus, which triggered the journey of a New beginning for his life.

  1. How did he accept the reality of what was happening to him?
  2. How did he exhibit humility?
  3. What was his focus?

Conclusion

You can be shaken by a setback. It may cause you to become confused, or even lose confidence. However, it also gives you a wonderful opportunity for a New beginning with greater knowledge and purpose.

Next week: we will be examining the older brother and how to defeat toxic resentment our daily life.
