God is on a Mission to seek and to save the lost. He sent Jesus to proclaim the Gospel of the Kingdom of God and now with the help of the Holy Spirit, you are meant to continue the Mission. It is a wonderful experience to walk with God just as Jesus did, sharing His mind and healing the people. God has promised that He would be with you and guide you in what to say and do as you take up the responsibility of Ministering on the Kingdom of God.
This month we are looking into God’s call to you and your responsibility by studying the book of Jonah.
Appetizer :John 3:16-17,Proverbs 25:2
Reading the above scriptures;
- What is the responsibility of God?
- What is the responsibility of the only Begotten Son?
- What is your responsibility?
Entrée: Jonah 1:1-16;
God persists in calling us to be involved with His world-wide missions plan.
God had a purpose for Jonah in spite of his attitude. Jonah’s call was more specific than most. He was “called” by God to go to a different people group from his own (a cross-cultural missionary).
- What are some responses Christians give for not responding to God’s command “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” in the world in which we live today?
- God chose Jonah. (He chose Moses, a poor speaker, far from perfect orator.) What would the Spirit want us to hear from this example?
- Can we really “run away from the Lord”? (Psalm 139:7-12)
- How could Jonah sleep at a time like this? Do you think he was really at peace with God?
- How did God “pursue” Jonah? How do they reveal the Justice and Mercy of God?
- How did Jonah demonstrate a sense of Responsibility for the “storm’?
- What does God do in the lives of the sailors after they had reluctantly thrown Jonah overboard? Discuss what that reveals about the character of God.
- With your specific spiritual maturity in mind, How are you and Jonah alike – and different? What would you have done in this situation?
Dessert: Matthew 5:14-16
How does your reluctance or disobedience to “Shine” jeopardizes the world?
Developing a Sense of Responsibility for whatever is assigned to you, is having an awareness of your obligations or duties, the willingness to take ownership of or commitment to, your role and the readiness to be accountable for your actions and their consequences, both positive and negative.
