Welcome to April 2026, Month of Awakening.
The anchor Scripture for this month is an extract from the letter of Paul to the brethren, in Romans 13:11-14 which reads:-
‘And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.’
You as a Disciple of Christ are called to be aware of the spiritual significance of the times you live in, recognizing the urgency of living out your faith. We as disciples of Christ must “wake up” from spiritual complacency and begin to actively engage in our faith, relationship with God and mankind. This Faith is not passive; it requires action and commitment, reflecting the transformative power of the Gospel according to Jesus Christ, in daily life..
It is time to be awakened from having a head knowledge of God to experiencing the ways of God. A call to rise from a state of “unconscious slumber”, religious routine and complacency. It is a time a transition from fear-driven apathy to truth and purposeful living.
This is the time to Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. The unbelievers shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.’ -Isaiah 60:1-3
