Read Ephesians 1:1-14
Introduction: What does it meant to be adopted? Why would a family chose to adopt another person, child or young adult? What rights and privileges are bestowed on the person adopted? Today we are discussing why God chose us for adoption.
- Who is Paul writing… how are they described (v. 1)?
- How does it impact you to think of being “chosen” by God? (also John 15:16)
- In your words, describe the “blessings in Christ” …what are seven things God has done for us, starting in v. 4?
- Which of the above seem most significant to you? Why?
- Discuss why you think the “mystery” of His will is a good word to use.
- How does knowing you are “adopted” affect your view of God? Yourself?
- How does the quality and depth of the One who has chosen you make you feel? How openly do you accept His love for you?
- How does this love affect your love for others?
