September 16, 2026 – Open Heaven, under Pressure

LESSON INTRODUCTION

Are you under pressure at home, financially, at your business or work environment or maybe your relationship with a loved one? Perhaps the pressure on you is that you don’t know where you’re going to get God’s supply, or how you’re going to get your prayer answered or how you’re going to get the strength you need to go on another day.

God knows what you’re going through. He knows what you’re up against. He knows you’re under pressure. He knows you’re in what the Bible calls a “midnight hour.”

Every one of us needs God’s Heavens to open for us, and we need God’s supply and strength to be poured out into our lives. We need Heaven’s supply and strength.

Today, we are taking another look at how Heaven opened for Jesus during the greatest pressure that He faced during his time on earth, as recorded in the bible.

Discussion Outline

We are looking at the Prayer experience of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.

ReadMark14:32-50

  • Looking at v 32-34, Which type of persons should you share your burden with when under pressure?
  • What is your intention when you pray? (Justify or condemning yourself or situation? Talk about the pressure of the situation or seek solution?)
  • What does “Jesus went a little farther?” mean to you?
  • Looking at v37-38, Why did Jesus single out Peter for “reprimand”?
  • How do you know your prayer has been answered?
  • How do you respond to the answer to your prayer?

Conclusion

Read Luke 22: 41-44.

It’s perfectly human, normal and natural to recognize that we don’t always feel like doing God’s will. And it’s okay. God still loves yo. But we need to recognize that we will either be ruled by our feelings or we will rule over our feelings. Open Heaven will give you access to Divine resources and strength.
