Lesson Introduction

According to the memory verse and lesson text, we can see a problem identified in our lesson text and a solution identified in the memory verse. The scripture does not deny that the devil has some level of power. He is referred to in this lesson text as the strong man every believer battles. As a matter of fact, scripture says we wrestle, Ephesians 6: 12.
Fortunately, Matthew 12: 29 shows that the one who has the greatest power is He who can give absolute victory. Praise God, Jesus owns all power Matthew 28: 18; Philippians 2: 10-11.
This therefore means it is Jesus who can give us total victory.
All victory is in Jesus, no matter the situation. There are a lot of victories in Christ, but we will consider five of them for today s lesson.

A: VICTORY IN THE TIME OF CONFUSION AND / OR FEAR

Throughout the course of life, we run into situations that breed fear or have the potential to get us fearful. Even amid faith, we see Abraham – a man of faith, Hebrew 11: 8 – showed signs of fear, Genesis 15: 1. Confusion and/or fear also tend to arise in moments of test, Genesis 22: 1 or temptation but victory is always sure in God, Isaiah 41: 10; Matthew 8: 23-27. When we are therefore fearful or confused, we are to remember Jesus and declare, just as the psalmist declared in, Psalm 3: 6 that “I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side.” There is no gain in denying the presence of fear. There is a lot of gain and victory in confessing that no situation is bigger than the Lord.

B: VICTORY WHEN THE WORLD IS AGAINST YOU

Have you ever been in a situation where you feel the world has turned its back on you? Do not worry, for there is nothing new under the sun, Ecclesiastes 1: 9. There are indeed times in life when it seems everyone, including those you love dearly, turn their backs on you. Joseph’s brothers were against him, Genesis 37: 19-28, David’s brothers were against him, 1 Samuel 17: 28, the Israelites turned their back against Moses Numbers 16:2-3, Aaron and Miriam criticized Moses, Numbers 12: 1-2. The world was against the woman caught in adultery, but Jesus delivered her from her accusers John 8: 1-11. When everyone forsakes or gives up on us, we have the assurance that Jesus will never leave nor forsake us, Hebrews 13: 5. Praise God! In those moments, remember to cry unto Jesus, Psalms 3: 1-5; Psalms 121.

C. VICTORY AT THE POINT OF GIVING UP

When battles are so much that it gets one to a point of almost giving up, Jesus steps in. Sometimes, it is a health issue we have battled for years with no signs of improvement, Jesus steps in and ends that battle, Luke 8: 43-48. In, Matthew 17: 14-18, we see the disciples giving up when they could not heal the boy with epilepsy, but Jesus gave them victory. When Elijah almost gave up, God showed up for him, 1 Kings 19: 1-9. After we have done all that we know to do but the mountain doesn’t move, there is One who is able to move every mountain. His name is Jesus, Philippians 2: 9-11. Instead of giving up, why don’t you call on Jesus?

D. VICTORY OVER A ROUGH PAST

Our God specializes in washing away past sins. As a matter of fact, this is one of the main reasons Jesus came to this world.
He came that we may be separated from our sins (our Adamic nature) and be made new in Him, 2 Corinthians 5:17. God is not a man who rules a person out based on their past. In contrast, He specializes in washing away their sins, Hebrews 10:10-12. He forgave and gave victory to the Samaritan Woman with five husbands John 4:1-26. He gave Saul victory over his past life and sins and gave him a new identity as Paul, Acts 9:1-6. He chose to insert Rehab in His lineage, even though she once was a prostitute, Matthew 1: 5. There are several other examples even today of how God has turned a person ruled out by men into a spectacle to bring in glory. Indeed, through Jesus, anyone in the miry clay can have victory in Him, Psalms 40: 1-3.

E. VICTORY OVER SICKNESS

Some sicknesses come because of judgement or discipline, 2 Chronicles 21: 15,18,19; Psalms 119: 67. Others come because of an attack from the, devil Job 2: 1-7. Others could also be because of God’s permissive will, John 9:1-3. Whichever case it is, we know that there is victory over sickness in Jesus, Matthew 28: 18. Jesus can give victory over paralysis, Luke 5: 17-32. Jesus can give victory over blindness, Mark 10: 46-52.
Jesus can give you victory over any blood issue, Matthew 9: 18-22. Jesus can give victory over every shackle of Satan, Mark 9:
14-27. Every time you are faced with one sickness or the other, always remember that you have victory in Christ. His word says so, and it is so, Psalms 107: 20.

Have you noticed that trying to get victory outside of Christ is a fruitless toil?
What is the first step you take when faced with a difficult situation?

Conclusion

Jesus has been given all authority, and He alone is able to deliver us from sickness, a rough past, throwing in the towel or suicide, rejection, fear, and many more. If you have Jesus, you have all you need. The question is, do you have Jesus as your Lord and savior? If you don’t, this will be the perfect time for you to make that decision.
