Feb 18 -The Purpose and Power of Revelation

Focus: Understanding that revelation is not an end in itself, but the catalyst for personal transformation, mission, and glorifying God.

Introduction

This week, we ask the most important question: So what? Why do we need deepening revelation? Imagine being given the blueprint for an incredible invention. The blueprint itself (the revelation) is amazing, but its true purpose is only fulfilled when you build the invention.

Study Questions

1. What does Paul say we are created in Christ Jesus to do? How does revelation of our identity relate to this? (Ephesians 2:10)

2. Jesus tells his disciples they are the light of the world. What are they supposed to do with their light, and what is the ultimate result? (Matthew 5:14-16)

3. In Jesus’ prayer for His disciples, what is the relationship between the revelation of truth (God’s Word) and their role in the world? (John 17:17-18)

4. How does Paul describe the ultimate goal of his life in relation to knowing Christ? (Philippians 3:10-11).

5a. What is the direct result of knowing God in our relationships with others, according to 1 John? (1 John 4:7-8)

5b. What is the ultimate purpose of our lives bearing much fruit, according to Jesus? (John 15:8)

Conclusion

Revelation is not a spiritual trophy to be placed on a shelf. It is a seed that must be planted. It is light that must be shone. It is a call that must be answered. The true test of any revelation is the fruit it produces in and through our lives. The goal is not just to know more, but to love more, serve more, and glorify God more.
