The Story of the Divine Encounter between Elijah and the Widow was preceded by a severe famine in the land of Israel. God had Divinely provided for Elijah at the Brook Cherith, by commanding ravens to feed him and him drinking from the brook.
It was now time for Elijah to experience God’s Divine provision in another way. In 1 Kings 17:9 ‘Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” ‘
When he arrived at Zarephath, he had a conversation with a widow and he learned that she was not just a widow but a mother of one son, who was about the prepare her family’s last supper.
This is the point where the whole encounter becomes tricky.
- Did God send Elijah to a widow? YES.
- Was Elijah with the right widow that God had commanded to feed him? Yes.
- Did the Widow know that God has commanded her the feed Elijah? No
- So how come she gave that response to Elijah’s request?
I Would like you to know that God has Commanded a blessing into your life that will not manifest until you have a Divine encounter with someone who will provoke the blessing .
Never for a moment think that God has forgotten you, in the darkest hour of your life, God is bringing people into your life that you may not recognize at that point of time.
This month i pray that you will have a Divine Encounter with the “Elijah” or “Widow of Zarephath” of your life journey.
I pray that you will not ignore, reject or doubt, rather you will be aware, accept and appreciate the Divine Encounter with the person that God has sent in your life or God has sent you into their life, to experience Divine Provisions in Jesus Name.
